Choosing an Efficient Toilet
Beyond just aesthetics, there are several considerations when buying a toilet that can ensure you get a better product. Here are a few factors to consider when shopping for a toilet. For more tips, check here.

Efficiency- Replacing old 3.5 gallon toilets with efficient 1.6 gpf models can save $3,000 over the life of the toilet. Newer High-Efficiency Toilets (HETs) save even more water, using about 20% less than a 1.6 gpf toilet.

Performance- The Maximum Performance (MaP) Test measures the maximum amount of waste a toilet can fully remove in one flush. To earn a city of Austin rebate, a toilet must flush at least 350 grams (a typical baking potato is about 250 grams).

Austin's Toilet Replacement Program
The Toilet Replacement Program can help replace up to three toilets per household with new, efficient toilets. To qualify, you must receive your water from the City of Austin or an eligible MUD. The City offers both a Free Toilet and Free Toilet Rebate program.
